Discover how the crucifix transforms the rosary into a weapon of victory over darkness.
By Romanus Onwe
As usual Bro Godfrey and I embarked on our weekly Legion Work to Aso C near Kabayi, in Nasarawa State. It was a Home-to-Home Visitation. When we came to a particular home, the situation was spiritually challenging—and worth sharing. I am conscious of the Legion of Mary standing instruction #4, “absolute respect for the confidential nature of many matters discussed at the meeting or learned in connection with the legionary work”. So, I will not share the family details. I feel obligated to share this testimony arising from the power of the rosary. This is because I strongly believe that someone, somewhere will benefit; and it might also encourage sharing rosary testimonies.
The woman we met had two children with a maid (her sister in-law), about 8 years old. The first child was 4 years old and the younger one was one year two months. It was an evening visitation. We were told that the husband went to work and would not be back until later in the evening. We enquired about their faith and she said they were Catholics, “But we just packed in to this place newly. So, we are not conversant with the church very near”, she told us.
There were no visible signs to show they were Catholics: no family alter, no crucifix, no medals or rosaries on the children; no visible sacramental. Unfortunately, this is common among some Catholics. In the course of our discussion, she told us that they had been experiencing some strange spiritual challenges in the home: strange voices, movements, visit to the maid. They started experiencing strange behavior from the girl. Things, especially money, started missing mysteriously. The husband business and finances gradually crumbled.
She said, “We confronted the girl and she told us that she used to attend meeting somewhere and some of her members used to visit; but only her could see them. They asked her to bring the man’s money to their kingdom meeting and that was how my husband financial crisis started”. The woman said that they lived in fear because most nights and sometimes in the daytime, they would come for the girl. According to her the other tenants are already aware of this incidence. In fact, she had already initiated the older girl and one other girl in the compound. Then we asked the girl about all that her mistress narrated and she concurred. The woman was glad that we came. We could see the relief in her from sharing with us. We prayed with them and left.
The following day we came to the home with blessed sacramentals: rosaries and crucifix. We hung the crucifix ourselves and put the rosary round it. Then we gave the second rosary to the girl to wear. She was excited and put it on her neck in our presence. We encouraged the family, prayed with them and promised to come back the following day.
We came back as promised. The woman testified that there was no disturbance in the house after hanging the crucifix. But the girl said something more profound and thrilling: “Our kingdom was in disarray when I attended the meeting with the rosary on my neck. They shouted at me and drove me out”. We were all glad at the testimony and we believed that was the beginning of her deliverance and that of the household. The rosary in the home and the one on her neck were terrible to the terrors.
The next time we visited we saw that the crucifix on the girl’s rosary has been chopped off. The crucifix is the head or the power of the rosary. We enquired, “what happened to your rosary? Why did you cut the head?” And she told us, “I was asked to chop if off, under the option of life or death before I could attend the next meeting”. Then we enquired about what happened when she attended the next meeting wearing a rosary without a crucifix or head. And she said there was no uproar; no shaking. Her presence caused no commotion again.
The rosary is a terror to evil kingdoms and the one without a crucifix is powerless, not more than a normal necklace. Be mindful of those that have rosaries without crucifix in their homes or cars too. And when next you want to buy the rosary, check the crucifix very well: Is the head of the crucified Jesus Christ turned to the left, right, or just straight. If you check the crucifix on every alter of the Catholic Church, the head of the image is turned to the right when he died. It is therefore, an aberration to have it to the left or straight. There are so many rosaries that have been produced to obscure the original. Such cannot possess the requisite power and grace.
We asked the girl to remove that one and gave her a new one to wear. We followed up that special case, involving other intercessors until not only her but also the entire household was delivered.
