Reflection
Today’s Gospel paints a striking contrast: a Pharisee invites Jesus to dinner, yet shows Him no real honor. Meanwhile, a sinful woman enters, weeping, washing His feet with her tears, drying them with her hair, and anointing them with ointment. Her actions are extravagant, humble, and filled with love.
Jesus responds with mercy, declaring: “Her many sins are forgiven, because she has loved much.” This scene reveals a core truth of the Gospel — forgiveness is not earned, it is received. And when it is truly received, it overflows into love.
The Pharisee’s cold reception and the woman’s passionate devotion challenge us to examine our own hearts. Do we approach Jesus with minimal gestures, or do we give Him our whole selves, even our brokenness?
Paul’s words to Timothy encourage him to be a witness not only in speech but also in conduct, love, faith, and purity. Like the woman in the Gospel, Timothy’s life was to be a living testimony of Christ’s transforming grace.
The psalm declares that God’s works are faithful and just, and His name is holy and awesome. It is this faithful God who meets us in our sin, forgives us, and calls us to a new way of living.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of forgiveness that restores my soul. Help me to love You with all my heart, like the woman who wept at Your feet. Let my life bear witness to Your mercy and grace.
Amen.
Today’s Challenge
Take a moment of honest prayer today — bring your sins and wounds to Jesus without fear.
Show love to someone who feels unworthy. Be a reminder of Christ’s mercy in their life.
